Breathe Easy

What's the first thing you thought when you saw a button on the kitchen counter start a garbage disposal? If it was safety-related, you're not alone. For most people, thoughts immediately go there...we're talking about electrical appliances and water, after all. It's a valid concern. But that button, and the mechanics underneath (called an air switch), are a safe alternative to an electrical switch.

Control without Electicity

Sounds great, right? But what is it, exactly, and how does it work? Air switches control electrical devices without a live circuit near the water. The switch plugs directly into the fixture via an outlet under the surface. A hose runs from the switch to the bottom of the button on the surface. When the button is pushed, a chain reaction of pressurized air activates the switch, turning on the fixture it's controlling. These switches are used for garbage disposals, spas and hot tubs.

Looks, Safety AND Easy Installation

Since there's only air on the surface, wet hands never come into contact with electricity. The button looks pretty snazzy too! Beyond the safety, air switches are more convenient, are compatible with most manufacturers, are simple to install and are available in a variety of finishes (link to Luxart offerings). These switches are truly a breath of fresh air.
